It was brought to the attention of the section heads that the campus was not performing well as relates to the parameters and targets set for the web ranking indicators as stipulated in the KSC Performance Contract 2016/2017 and there was urgent need to arrest the situation by discussing strategies to be put in place to improve the campus web ranking indicators which feed into the University’s overall score in webometrics.

The Chairman brought to the attention of members that the campus had improved on only one (1) indicator: Backlinks and was performing slightly below the target on three (3) indicators namely: Presence, Referring Domain and Transparency where a lot of emphasis needed to be put in to ensure achievement of the same. The campus had scored 26,800 as opposed to the target of 37,062 on presence, 29,467 as opposed to 15,550 on backlinks, 366 as opposed to 626 on Referring Domain and 4,502 as opposed to 4,952 on transparency.

The Director, ICT shared with the staff members that the University had lost about two thousand (2,000) backlinks and hence there was need to come up with strategies to improve on the campus web ranking indicators by converting mentions into backlinks as one of them.

The Deputy Principal committed to spearhead the same and ensure that the campus meets the set targets by further looking into the strategies and formulating ways of going achieving and surpassing the same with the cooperation of the section heads.

The Chairman indicated that the campus’ progress shall be monitored every two (2) weeks beginning on Friday, May 19 2017 and the same shall be escalated to weekly as we approach the end of the current financial year. He closed the meeting by indicating that the Vice-Chancellor shall chair the evaluation and monitoring of progress and hence the need to undertake the task with the seriousness required.
